I am always delighted to return to my home state of Indiana, and being the guest artist for IMTA just makes it doubly enjoyable. And triply enjoyable to discover Sweetwater Sound in person! Playing Debussy and Prokofiev for an experienced audience of mostly dedicated piano teachers and piano lovers brings its pressures, but the satisfaction is so sweet as well. This group of knowledgeable pianists gave the edge to Prokofiev. Round 1 was a dead heat. But each round skewed progressively towards Prokofiev. It seems that those who play piano appreciate Prokofiev more. And there were mostly piano players in the room! More below...
