To start of a week of activity in Denver, I played at Trinity Presbyterian Church, on a beautiful Steinway in a wonderfully live acoustic space. Despite the Covid-19 epidemic ramping up across the country, Denver was still relatively calm. Attendance was slightly less than usual, but the audience was attentive and passionate for their winner - Debussy! A big win with 70%! The pleasure of the piano tone could be a reason. The search for calm in tumultuous times could be another. One unexpected detail in the breakouts: Men preferred Debussy even more than Women! 82% vs. 64%. This brings Debussy to a 2-concert lead over Prokofiev!
