In another pandemic pivot, the long-standing IU Piano Academy experimented with me on a new format: the watch party concert. With 30+ students on zoom, I presented my “case” for Time Travelers: Bach vs. Glass, and then we all watched together, and then voted together. Zoom polling made the results instantaneous, so at the end, I revealed the surprising results! Momentous results, even - for the first time bringing Bach’s overall score over Glass! Was it the youth of the voters? Was it the fact that everyone was a pianist? Was it because of the online/pre-recorded format? In any case, Bach won handedly in this Smackdown and brought the entire score to a dead heat! I can’t wait for the next Time Travelers!
