A beautiful audience came to the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu to kick off the AIPF. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to play, see old friends, make new ones, and discover this wonderful city. Prokofiev wins again! But interestingly, there were a significant number of people who voted a straight ballot for Debussy, many more than those who voted straight Prokofiev. Only the 60+ age group favored Debussy overall. However, a huge majority went for the L’isle Joyeuse. Could it be the influence of Hawaii’s island paradise setting??
