A violent thunderstorm knocked out power to most of Bloomfield Hills just hours before the concert. The Chapel was powerless, but a few candles and a battery-powered lamp allowed the concert to go forward!
The ambiance actually fit quite nicely with the meditative/hypnotic aspect of the music. Perhaps it even was responsible for the Glass victory!?
Given that this year’s theme for the GLCMF was the music of Bach, the decisive Glass victory came as an even greater surprise. It’s a tie right now!

✓No Contest. Bach is like the speed of light. Nothing can ever exceed it.
✓Heard Glass for 1st and only time at the Houston Grand Opera World Premiere of Akhenaton - I hated it and it prejudiced my thinking of Philip Glass - Really surprised how much I enjoyed Glass tonight! Brilliant World Premiere!!
✓Minimal lighting added to the quality of the night.
✓Your playing of Bach reminded me of Glenn Gould's at times. Bravo!
✓Best concert ever! Extraordinary! Thank you!
✓I love JS Bach and fully expected to be torn between these 2 composers. As you see, I loved P Glass. Straight ballot!
