Doing the Smackdown for this “familiar” audience was exhilarating, with a sense of trust in the face of something new and different!
Results: Debussy, winning by a majority of 51%. Prokofiev garnered 39%, with 10% undecided.
Breaking it down by individual rounds:
Round 1 - Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque edged out Romeo & Juliet, 53%-46%
Round 2 - Debussy’s L’isle Joyeuse solidly favored over Prokofiev’s Sonata #3 64%-35%
Round 3 - Debussy’s Image and Estampe solidly winning over a smorgasbord of Prokofiev 62%-36%
Round 4 - Debussy’s Reverie and Prokofiev’s Toccata in a perfect draw 49%-49%
Men were perfectly split between the two, while Women were strongly in favor of Debussy.

Divided by age, the over 40s went for Debussy, while the under 40s went for Prokofiev. (Caveat: there weren’t very many under 40s!)
